Bressingham Steam Museum, and Dad's Army Experience
The Dad's Army series was filmed in and around Thetford (including the Stanford training area) and included many local residents of the surrounding countryside.

Some of the vehicles from Bressingham Steam Museum were used in the series including the Leyland fire engine in 'Brains versus Brawn' (episode 50, 1972). The steamroller 'Boxer' and traction engine 'Bertha' also took part in the series.

The green Austin 8 Tourer has been kindly loaned by Mr Roger Miles. It was relayed by the RAC from Atherstone, Warwickshire, where it had been stored in a barn.

The exhibition consists of the Church Hall & Vicar's office, Frazer's Workshop & Funeral Directors, Mainwaring's Swallow Bank, Jones's Butcher shop, Post Office & Stores, Francis Cupiss printers and David Cooke toyshop.

There are lots of events at Bressingham. For more information check:

Bressingham has something for everyone! Experience the power of steam in all its forms, from main-line locomotives to small stationary engines. There's a magnificent collection of traction engies too; a Victorian steam roundabout, with its stampede of gorgeously decorated horses, ostriches and cockerels and, of course, three separate narrow-gauge railway rides. running for more than five miles around Bressingham's gardens, woods, meadows and lake. But the power of steam is only half the Bressingham story!

When you've enjoyed all the thrilling sights, sounds and smell of the steam age, you can relax with the glory of the garden! Alan Bloom's world-famous Dell Garden extends over six acres, with no fewer than 47 island beds of perennials cutting vivid swathes of colour through the lawns and mature trees. With nearly 5000 different plant varieties on show, there's fascination at every turn for the keen gardener - but even if you know little about plants, you'll appreciate the skilfully planned vistas and spectacular beauty of the garden.
