    Fairhaven Woodland Gardens
The Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden comprises 73 hectares (180 acres) of beautiful ancient woodland, water gardens and a private broad at South Walsham in the heart of the Norfolk Broads.

The garden was left in trust by the 2nd Lord Fairhaven in 1973, and was opened to the public in 1975. We are working hard to preserve and enhance the garden according to Lord Fairhaven's wishes.

ORGANIC GARDEN: The garden is organic; we only use farmyard manure and our own leaf mulch to fertilise the soil. The resulting flora and fauna found in the garden are testimony to this approach. We also carry out traditional woodland management practices like coppicing.

OPEN: We are open daily all year 10.00am - 5.00pm (closed Christmas Day); also open until 9.00pm on Wednesday and Thursday from May to the end of August.

WHAT CAN YOU SEE AND DO? Over three miles of wonderful woodland walks - all easy walking with superb views across South Walsham Inner Broad. Boat trips daily, April to end of October (additional charge) - great birdwatching from the boat. 950 year old King Oak and many other ancient oaks and beech trees. Nature reserve with bird hide

SPRING: daffodils, skunk cabbages, bluebells, primroses, rhododendrons, azaleas and the UK's finest collection of naturalised candelabra primulas.

SUMMER: massed wild flowers with birds, colourful butterflies and dragonflies. Over 92 species of bird have been recorded in the garden.

AUTUMN: magnificent autumn colours and fungi in late October and early November, and passage birds on the Inner Broad.

WINTER: sunny frosty mornings, displays of snowdrops and colourful berries - watch out for deer and kingfishers.
