    Brundall Riverfest
Brundall is the perfect venue for such a ‘River Fest’ event, on the waters edge at Brundall Bay, situated just off the main River Yare, with excellent facilities and a hoard of boating enthusiasts.

This event is organised and under-written by local businessman James Fraser of Norfolk Yacht Agency (NYA) and co-facilitated by Jane Carver Local Resident of Brundall.

The aim of the day was to integrate the local marine world in Brundall with the local community.

The event was supported well by local Marine businesses and village businesses alike and maintained a very ‘local feel’ reminiscent of a traditional bygone charm of the past.

The event was blessed with one of the finest days of the season and there were several sun- kissed faces at the end of the day!

Local businesses worked in partnership to put together a fine selection of stalls ranging from nautical requirements through well-being, arts and crafts to Local Shellfish food and BBQ. At the centre of this was the NYA showcase of extensive boats for sale from the brokerage.

Through out the day Entertainment was provided by local bands and solo artists, a children’s entertainer and martial arts demonstrations from the ‘main ring’, alongside the refreshment marquee which supplied champagne and Pimm’s to create a relaxed informal atmosphere. And of course, there was a bar providing refreshments from The Brundall MotorYacht Club!

Teams competed in a raft race, which caused great hilarity and fun for both participants and onlookers who lined the river bank to get a good view of the action!

The Maritime Volunteer Service presented a demonstration of their rescue service, which included a man-over-board demo and the setting off of a ‘life raft’. The Maritime Volunteer Service Rescue boat works in and around the Broads area, and is basec in the Marina at Brundall Locals were able to see the RIB, and how its crew handle her on its recently acquired docking system.

NYA gave visitors a chance to take a free river trip aboard a Fairline Phantom, and Broom Boats also provided the opportunity to have a short trip on a day launch.

The event was supported also by Norfolk-A-Float: The Broads Beat and Broads Authority, who had stands and were about to offer practical help and support.

The event is planned to run again on the success of last years, on August 4th 2007.

This year we are planning a bigger & more ambitious event! The day time activities will be followed in the evening by the ‘River Dance’, with entertainment being provided by a popular local band the JBs, a hog roast will be available & the Charity Auction- which it is anticipated will raise a good bit of cash for local charities. Tickets for this will be on sale soon.

It is hoped this time to encourage more local businesses to participate either through sponsorship, booking a stall or giving of an item for the Charity Auction.

We need the support of the community in Brundall to make this a success, so if you are interested in taking part, be it to perform, to have a stall, or to help out generally please make yourselves known and call us on the numbers below.
