1 Boatman's Row: Wells Holiday Cottage for 2
No 1 Boatman's Row is an old fisherman's cottage in the historic harbour town of Wells-next-the-sea, in walking distance of the stunning sandy beach at Wells and Holkham. It has one double bedroom and an additional attic room with a double sofabed. It sleeps two adults in comfort (it is too small to accommodate groups of adults). The cottage has a wood-burning stove, antique furniture, lots of books and a homely feel.

The cottage has a sunny south facing garden with a small lawn, flowers, barbecue and bench. Downstairs is a living room with two sofas and the wood-burning stove and a small fully-equipped kitchen; upstairs is a double bedroom and bathroom with bath and shower. The loft has been converted into a very small second bedroom/study with beautiful views of the marshes and the sea beyond. The sandy beach at Wells and Holkham is 30 minutes stroll across the marshes or 3 minutes in the car.

The cottage is on a quiet lane and makes a brilliant retreat from the city. But the cottage is also just five minutes walk from Wells' bustling town centre, and quay. Wells is really lovely - attractive and unspoilt, with fantastic fish and chips, proper local pubs, a brilliant boat-pub, old-fashioned arcades and an excellent local butcher, baker, deli, grocer, secondhand bookshop etc. The surrounding countryside is full of nature reserves, marshes, woodland, beautiful flint churches, old railway lines and stately homes. You can hire bikes in Wells and explore the area - it is good cycling country.
