|Bure Valley Railway
| The Bure Valley Railway runs along nine miles of former British Railways branch line trackbead and links the historic market town of Aylsham with Wroxham in the Heart of the Broads.
Wherever you choose to start your journey, you will travel through some of Broadland's prettiest countryside. There are car parks at Aylsham and Wroxham Stations with a footpath link to Anglia Railways Trains at Wroxham/Hoveton Station.
The Narrow Gauge train journey takes you through the attractive villages of Brampton, Buxton and Coltishal each served by their own Halt. Why not break your return journey at Buxton, visit the shops and riverside at Coltishall or enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Bramton.
At the Aylsham Station there is an excellent buffet facility offering refreshments and hot or cold meals. Don't miss the souvenir shop for that gift or momento of your visit. Light refreshments and a gift shop are also available at Wroxham Station.
You will find our rolling stock some of the finest ever built for the Narrow Gauge and our staff friendly and helpful. There are specially designed coaches for wheelchair bound travellers. Timetable permitting, staff will be happy to explain the workings of the steam and diesel locomotives or accompany you behind the scenes around the viewing area of the Aylsham loco shed.
Aylsham is a an ancient market town which has close associations with nearby Blickling Hall where three generations of the Boleyn family were resident. Ann Boleyn was, of course, the most famous. Retaining it's old charm, Aylsham is busy with local people and tourists visiting a variety of local shops from antiques to country supplies. The historic market place and the nearby medieval church are well worth a visit and market day is Monday (unless a bank holiday).
Wroxham and Hoveton is the "tourist centre of the Broads". Shop in "The Worlds Largest Village Store" or take a trip on the river.
Don't forget the Bure Valley Walk and cycle path which runs parallel to the railway. Leaflets are available from the Tourist Information Centre at Aylsham Station. Don't just park and ride, Walk and Ride!
Why not combine the fascination of a narrow gauge steam railway with the splendid Norfolk Countryside and its town and villages and have an enjoyable day out. We look forward to welcoming you!
